About
A typical MUN session will simulate a UN committee, such as the Security Council or the Human Rights Committee, with participants role-playing as a representative for a given country or non-governmental organisation, known as a delegate.

If you're unfamiliar with a topic study guides giving you a overview of the issue are available on the Facebook Event page a week before any given session and you're allowed to use your phone or laptop during the session to look any other information that might help you.

Two moderators will chair the session so that everyone has a chance to speak and keep the debate orderly.

MUN is a little different to just debating, because it simulates the work UN it also follows the rules and procedures of the UN.

There are three formats of debate:

Speaker's List - This is where a delegate can choose to give a speech about their country's position on the topic.
Moderated Caucus - This is where delegates can debate back and forth on a subtopic that they all decide on.

Unmoderated Caucus - This is where delegates can move around the room to find countries who agree with them and to work on created draft resolutions.

Draft Resolutions
A draft resolution is a document that contains all the issues the committee wants to tackle and the solutions for how to do it. Once it's voted on by the committee it becomes a resolution.
